Towards the Authority of Thomas More and Erasmus in 1516<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>Leuven, 29 November - 2 December 2016</b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">In
the year 1516, two crucial texts for the cultural history of the West
saw the light: Thomas More’s Utopia and Desiderius Erasmus’s Novum
Instrumentum. Both of these works dealt freely with authoritative
sources of western civilization and opened new pathways of thought on
the eve of invasive religious and political changes.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img alt="Thomas More - KUL" class=" wp-image-8682 aligncenter" data-mce-src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/thomas-more-kul.png?w=501" data-wpmedia-src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/thomas-more-kul.png" height="240" src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/thomas-more-kul.png?w=501" width="436" /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Lectio
and the University of Leuven, in collaboration with its RefoRC-partners
the Johannes a Lasco Library Emden and the Europäische Melanchthon
Akademie Bretten as well as other partners, will mark the 500th birthday
of both foundational texts by organizing a conference, from November 29
through December 2, 2016. The university city of Leuven is a most
appropriate place to have this conference organized, since it was
intimately involved in the genesis and the history of both works.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">The
conference will be devoted to studying not only the reception and
influence of Utopia and the Novum Instrumentum in (early) modern times,
but also their precursors in Classical Antiquity, the Patristic period,
and the Middle Ages. The conference will thus lead to a better
understanding of how More and Erasmus used their sources, and it will
address the more encompassing question of how these two authors, through
their own ideas and their use of authoritative texts, have contributed
to the rise of Modern Western thought.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">The
conference also explicitly aims at enhancing our understanding of
iconographic, book-, and art-historical aspects of the transmission of
the texts under consideration, both before and after the publication of
the two works.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">This
multidisciplinary Lectio conference wants to bring together
international scholars working in the field of theology, art history,
philosophy, history of science and historical linguistics.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">

<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>Argumentaire</b></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Plusieurs
chameaux, rennes, chiens…</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Disparue
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">A
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">L'approche
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span data-mce-style="color: #ff6600;" style="color: #ff6600;">I- Animal comme source d’énergie</span></b></div>
<ul>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Diversité des animaux, diversité des utilisations</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Animal,
On s'intéressera
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Animal, source d'énergie, source d'innovation technique (ferrure, collier d'épaule...).</span></li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span data-mce-style="color: #ff6600;" style="color: #ff6600;">II- L'énergie animale</span></b></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Il
<ul>
</ul>

<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Si
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">On
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
temps long.</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444;">Le

<span style="color: #444444;">Le
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">De
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Le
suivants :</span></div>
<ul>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Réflexions méthodologiques et épistémologiques sur les changements d’échelles</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Exemples

<span style="color: #444444;">Nous

<span style="color: #444444;">As
patrons of art, the Medici left a legacy that is unrivalled. Their
well-known narrative lies at the center of Renaissance scholarship. The
Medici patronized painters and sculptors, founded academies, preserved
and curated their collections, and used both artists and artworks as
political tools to convey their agendas and augment their prestige
amongst the courts of Italy and Europe. Yet, just as Medici identity was
expressed in terms of this cultural patrimony, so too were the attacks
of their enemies. A rich corpus of anti-Medicean works of art remains
underappreciated and understudied: works of art that communicated
messages of opposition, hostility and even hate that struck at the very
heart of the political identity of the Medici dynasty.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Recognizing
the role that art, artists, and artistic patronage played in opposing
the Medici (roughly from Cosimo the Elder to the end of the sixteenth
century), this two-day event, sponsored by the Medici Archive Project
and the Archivio di Stato in Florence, will address this lacuna. The
organizers of the conference, Alessio Assonitis and Stefano Dall’Aglio,
invite proposals for 25-minute papers that pertain to subjects
including, but not limited to:</span></div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Anti-Medici Patronage in the Quattrocento</span></li>

<span style="color: #444444;">Michel
grandes voix ».</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img alt="ENC" class=" size-full wp-image-8432 aligncenter" data-mce-src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/enc.png" height="173" src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/enc.png" width="292" /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">

C. La Rocca, P. Majocchi (eds.), "Urban identities in Northern Italy, 800-1100 ca"<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">The
book aims to reflect on the characteristics of urban centers of the
kingdom of Italy between the ninth and the eleventh centuries, filling a
noticeable historiographical gap. The cities in Northern Italy in this
period have not yet been analysed with a multidisciplinary approach,
able to outline their specific and distinctive characteristics and to
relate this particular period both to the post-Roman past and also to
the following “Communal” phase. Urban identities are examined from
different points of view: from a political perspective, in relation to
the dialectic between center, periphery and to the border areas of the
kingdom; from an institutional and territorial standing point, analyzing
the structures of local power and public territorializations; according
to social and military history approaches, highlighting the
continuities and transformations in comparison with former and following
centuries. The issue of urban identities is also investigated
archaeologically, in relation to urban development and to topographic
transformations, and culturally explored, examining mutual exchanges
between the cities of the kingdom. Another aspect rarely addressed by
previous literature is ultimately to compare the results of this
research on the Italic kingdom with studies on the Transalpine
Carolingian and post-Carolingian empire and kingdoms, outlining common
trends, but also specific peculiarities.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">

<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><i>Cristina
La Rocca teaches Medieval History at the University of Padova. Her main
fields of interest are early medieval history, early medieval funerary
practices, and gender history. Her recent publications include Tempi

<span style="color: #444444;">The
Database of Byzantine Book Epigrams (DBBE) is an ongoing project that
makes available textual and contextual data of book epigrams (or:
metrical paratexts) from medieval Greek manuscripts (seventh to
fifteenth century).</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">We
define book epigrams as poems in books and on books: their subject is
the very manuscript in which they are found. They record, react to, or
motivate the production, the contents and the use of the book. Further
explanation of this definition is to be found on the Help page.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;"><img alt="yzantine book" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-8637" data-mce-src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/yzantine-book.png?w=501" data-wpmedia-src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/yzantine-book.png" height="270" src="https://rmblf.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/yzantine-book.png?w=501" width="1027" /></span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Objectives of the database are to:</span></div>
<ul>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">collect textual material that was hitherto dispersed over various publications, chiefly catalogues;</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">clarify the manuscript context of the epigrams;</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">provide ways to search the corpus and detect affinities between epigrams and manuscripts;</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">offer reliable editions that respect the uniqueness of each specific manuscript.</span></li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">The user can access the database by searching or browsing through three categories in the menu above:</span></div>
<ul>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;"><b>occurrences:</b>
epigrams as they occur in one specific manuscript. The data collected
here is mainly derived from descriptive catalogues as well as other
related publications (such as articles, editions etc). In certain cases
it is the result of manuscript consultation conducted by members of our
team.</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;"><b>types:</b>
corrected versions of the poems, often regrouping several similar
occurrences. This part of the database is still very provisional. The
types are meant to evolve into a corpus of editions over the next years.</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;"><b>manuscripts:</b>
manuscript identifications are given according to city, library, name
of the collection, shelf nr.: it basically follows the system of the
Pinakes database.</span></li>
</ul>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">A
beta version of the database has been released on 1 September, 2015.
Please, bear in mind that this version is still work in progress. All
users are invited to send their feedback with corrections, suggestions
etc. at: dbbe@ugent.be.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">We
are keen for DBBE to be used in the widest possible range of
educational and research contexts. For information on how to cite or
refer to DBBE, see the Help page.</span></div>

The Berlin-based FORUM TRANSREGIONALE STUDIEN invites scholars to apply
for up to ten postdoctoral fellowships within the framework of the
research program "Art Histories and Aesthetic Practices. Kunstgeschichte
und ästhetische Praktiken" for the academic year 2016/2017.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">"Art
Histories and Aesthetic Practices" is a research and fellowship program
which questions and transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries of
art history in a transcultural, global horizon. By creating a space of
dialogue for scholars from all continents and regions, it aims to
discuss the potentials and contours of a plural history of art. It
especially invites scholars from Islamic, Asian, African, Australian,
European art histories and those of the Americas to join the program,
but also addresses neighboring disciplines such as Archaeology and other
fields dealing with the history of visual cultures. "Art Histories and
Aesthetic Practices" analyses the connectivity of larger historical
spaces in a transregional perspective and investigates artistic and
aesthetic practices and the history of artifacts in a comparative
approach, experimenting with new methodologies and forms of
collaborative research. The concept of "Aesthetic Practices" introduced
by this program, is an invitation to study artifacts with their
biographies as well as processes of transfer and transformation in a
transcultural, postcolonial and global perspective. The program has no
chronological or geographical constraints. It collaborates with the
museums of Berlin, the Berlin universities, as well as other
international and national academic partners, and aims at an intense
interaction of art historical institutions. Its scholarly environment is
designed to enable and encourage both fellows and the wider community
to experiment and refine transregional approaches to the history of
visual cultures and aesthetic practices.</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444;">Les
(Paris).</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">En
d’Italie.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Mais
France.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Le

<span style="color: #0b5394;"><b>Inventing medieval literature (16th-17th century)</b><br /><b> University of Lausanne, 6-7 October 2016</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">“Literature
of the Middle Ages” is a relatively young category in the long history
of the study of medieval texts. The expression seems not to go back
further than the first half of the 19th century. In France, for example,
it was used by Abel-François Villemain as a title for twenty-four
lessons of the “Cours de littérature française” which he taught at the
Sorbonne (1829–1830), and by Émile Lefranc as a subtitle for one of
the volumes of his <i>Histoire élémentaire et critique de la littérature</i>
(1840). In 1852, Paulin Paris claimed it for the title of a chair which
he hoped to have created at the Collège de France and which he held
there from 1853 onwards. By “literature” these intellectuals meant a set
of works with an “aesthetic” value, which expressed the national
“genius” or “spirit”. In this sense, the notion was narrower than that
of litterae, which, from the 16th century onwards, was the main object
of the historia litteraria and in particular of scholarly undertakings
such as the Maurists’ Histoire littéraire de la France (1733–),
Girolamo Tiraboschi’s <i>Storia della letteratura italiana</i> (1772–1782) or Joseph Berington’s <i>A Literary History of the Middle Ages</i> (1814).</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Of
course, the authors and works making up the medieval literary canon in
the 19th century had interested the Republic of Letters earlier. Since
the 1940s, the interest of Early Modern antiquarians in this matter has
been the subject of many studies. Several of them, however, contented
themselves with transferring the category “medieval literature” to
centuries during which no distinction was made on the one hand between
literature and the rest of the written production, and on the other hand
– at least before the 17th century – between the Middle Ages and the
adjacent periods of Antiquity and Renaissance. Moreover the early
interest in “medieval literature” was often studied from a disciplinary
perspective: one picked out what already conformed or did not yet

<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">This
conference aims to escape from such teleological conceptions by
studying the categories and periodizations used by 16th and 17th century
antiquarians to classify the texts gathered today under the name
“medieval literature”. The question of the models of such
classifications (for example, the Aristotelian opposition between
“history” and “poetry”) will be addressed. We examine the motivations
behind antiquarian interest in texts which were difficult to read and
understand, carried moral and religious values percieved as “alien”, and
were sometimes considered useless if not harmful to read, but were
nevertheless recognized as reliable sources on past habits. Finally,
special attention will be given to discourses of continuity (origins of a
modern language) or rupture (medieval “barbarity” or “popery”) in which
these texts were used as supports. In order to address these issues,
sources such as bibliographical repertories, catalogues of private
manuscript or printed book collections, the paratext of text editions
(dedicatory epistle, preface, critical apparatus), reading notes
(commonplace and adversaria books) or scholarly correspondence could be
relevant.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">«
l’<i>Histoire littéraire de la France des Mauristes</i> (1733–), la <i>Storia della letteratura italiana</i> de Girolamo Tiraboschi (1772–1782) ou <i>A Literary History of the Middle Ages</i> de Joseph Berington (1814).</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Les
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Afin
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Les
Barbara Wahlen (Barbara.Wahlen@unil.ch) d’ici au <b>30 janvier 2016</b>.</span></div>

Inquisition, Theology, and Papal Policy in the Time of Jacques Fournier"<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">In <i>Defining Heresy</i>,
Irene Bueno investigates the theories and practices of anti-heretical
repression in the first half of the fourteenth century, focusing on the
figure of Jacques Fournier/Benedict XII (c.1284-1342). Throughout his
career as a bishop-inquisitor in Languedoc, theologian, and, eventually,
pope at Avignon, Fournier made a multi-faceted contribution to the
fight against religious dissent. Making use of judicial, theological,
and diplomatic sources, the book sheds light on the multiplicity of
methods, discourses, and textual practices mobilized to define the
bounds of heresy at the end of the Middle Ages. The integration of these
commonly unrelated areas of evidence reveals the intellectual and
political pressures that inflected the repression of heretics and
dissidents in the peculiar context of the Avignon papacy.</span></div>

<span style="color: #444444;">Le
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Le
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<ul>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Le
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Ensuite,
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">Cette
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">On
l’imperium princier.</span></li>
<li data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #444444;">On
</span></li>

<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Depuis
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Cette
historiographique.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">La
State University), Charles West (University of Sheffield), et Julia
Barrow (University of Leeds).
Meijns@arts.kuleuven.be et à

<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Recent
years have witnessed strong academic interest in bishops of the tenth
and early eleventh centuries. Long considered morally weak, deeply
embroiled in worldly affairs, and culturally insignificant, these
prelates of the ‘pre-Gregorian age’ are now undergoing reassessment via
analysis of well-known sources and previously neglected ones. The
objective of these studies is to understand bishops’ identities and
agency in the context of their own time – an age marked by close
entanglement of the ecclesiastical and secular spheres – instead of
contrasting them with their ‘Gregorian’ successors. From this recent
scholarship emerges a complex and varied understanding of episcopal
office, and of the different ways in which its holders expressed their
claims to political and religious authority.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">The
aim of this conference is to present state-of-the-art scholarship on
tenth- and early- eleventh century bishops in France and Lotharingia, to
consider the above developments, and to explore new paths for future
research on episcopal authorities in the Post-Carolingian world. It
situates itself at the intersection of different fields of medieval
scholarship, including the study of institutions, reform, discourse,
ritual and symbolic modes of (self-)representation, historiographical
production, iconography, and material culture.</span></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">The
conference is a joint organization of Steven Vanderputten (Ghent
University) and Brigitte Meijns (Catholic University of Leuven), with
support from the Research-Foundation Flanders (FWO) and in association
with Episcopus (www.episcopus.org). Keynote lectures will be delivered
by John Ott (Portland University), Charles West (University of
Sheffield), and Julia Barrow (University of Leeds). Papers may be
presented in English or French and should not exceed 20 minutes in
length. To submit a proposal, please send an abstract of maximum 400
words (PhD students also include a brief curriculum vitae) by email to
Brigitte.Meijns@arts.kuleuven.be and Steven.Vanderputten@UGent.be before

Séminaire Questes<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Ensuite, <b><i>comment fait-on de l’histoire au Moyen Âge ?</i> </b>Il
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Il
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div data-mce-style="text-align: justify;" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #444444;">Les
